Niah Tidy – Sessional Artist.

Niah used to be an art teacher at a local school, she comes to the day centre every Monday and every other Friday for arts and crafts. Niah helps clients create art/craft work that is suited to every clients ability.

Art is an integral part of the human experience, and it can help people to get involved in their community, find new ways to communicate, and increase their self-confidence.The use of art has long been identified as a means to reduce stress and anxiety. Clients work is displayed for all to see and they can take their creations home to show parents/carers.

Denis – Line Dancing

Denis is a professional line dancing teacher who runs his own classes in different parts of the county. He has been coming to us now for about 5 years.

He teaches dances adapted to each individuals ability and everyone can join in. Dancing allows one to express oneself. Dancing provides physical/mental refreshment and relaxation, dancing can provide a lot of entertainment, Laughter and fun, Dancing is a form of exercise

Workouts don’t have to be a chore. In fact, workouts don’t have to feel like workouts at all. With Zumba, a workout isn’t even a workout: it’s a fun, social dance party – with exercise being the biggest perk! The music is fast, upbeat and contagious, so you can’t help but keep moving. And since it takes place in a group setting, Zumba is by far one of the best ways to get your friends in on your “exercise routine.”

Cook and eat – Tuesday and Friday

Julia has a son who attends the Day Centre and she comes in twice a week to help with cook and eat. Clients decide what they want – starter/main course or main/dessert. They help write shopping lists and go to the shop to buy the ingredients. They then help with the preparation of the lunch

Out and about

Meet new people, develop social skills, fresh air and exercise, road awareness, public awareness, getting involved with local groups.

On a Wednesday morning we all meet at the Pump House cafe for tea and cake, this gives us all the opportunity to gather in a social setting in the community.
